Competition

The Initiative for the promotion of art in the Mediterranean area, Istria – Umag, is organizing a competition for the selection of plays that will be officially included in the repertoire of the 26th International festival of the chamber theatre “Golden Lion” in Umag 2025.

The competition ends March, 14th 2025.

This year, the 26th edition of the Festival “Golden Lion”, is planned to take place from June 23rd till June 29th 2025 in Umag.

In the selectors’ choice, every profesional theater – from non institutionalized theater ensembles, to experimental theater formations or chamber scenes of big theaters are included. The plays that are included in the official repertoire will enter the competition for the Grand Prize.

The Festival organization will be able to pay for the costs of your stay in Umag, to provide the professional and technical support and conditions for the play, to organize the festival Forum, the publicity, to pay for your accommodation and to offer you the solemn dinner, while you are kindly asked to provide yourselves the means for your other needs and travel costs

The application has to contain a play catalogue, a poster, a DVD footage of the play, photographs and any other photo material in electronic form, critics, scene schemes, configuration of light and tone as well as other technical conditions and the rooming list.
